ROOM RATIO: To ensure that your babies receive the best care, we adhere to a one to every three child ratio in our nursery/toddler classrooms.

What To Bring
When packing a diaper bag for your child, please include the following items:

  1. Two or three disposable diapers. No cloth diapers, please.
  2. Pacifier or other item, should your child need it for security.
  3. A complete change of clothes in case your child would require that.
  4. A bottle of milk, formula, juice or water. (This is a good practice even for mothers who nurse.)

Please label all personal items with your child's first and last name before arriving at your child's class. This helps us keep track of your child's items.

Your Child's Health

We operate a well-baby program. For the protection of all the children in our ministry, we cannot accept a child with a runny nose, fresh cold (four days or less), fever, rash, persistent cough, diarrhea or any other signs of illness. We request that you not place your child in the program while they are at risk of exposing other children. Thank you in advance for helping us keep our program a healthy place for all.

When You Arrive At Your Child's Room

Check in starts at 15 minutes prior to service start and ends 15 minutes after service starts. A leader will meet you at the door of the Nursery or Toddler Room door to receive your child and any other necessary items. Please check in and note any information that will help in caring for your child such as feeding times, sleeping times, allergies and special needs.

At the time of check-in, a leader will greet you and enter your child's and your information on a label. . A leader will then apply an adhesive name tag to your child's back with his or her name on it. You will be given a matching tag. This tag will need to be presented at the time of pick up. A child will not be released without presentation of the parents corresponding tag.

Snacks
Snacks are provided for the children once they graduate to the Toddler classroom. The food items consist of water and Cheerios or crackers for our toddlers. If your child has an allergy, please inform the leader when you check in your child. They will be given a special sticker to identify this.

Curriculum
We believe even our littlest ones can learn! Regular learning experiences are reinforced with songs, play and supervised activities designed with the ability of the children in mind.

Saying Good-bye

After you have completed the check-in process, simply wave a quick good-bye and leave for the worship service. As you know, it is normal for little ones to cry when leaving a parent. This does not last long, and separation becomes easier over time. Our leaders will immediately try to create interest in a toy or activity and give assurance that you will return after the worship service is completed. If your child cries for an extended period of time of 10 minutes, we will page you.

Checking On Your Child
Feel free to check on your little one at any time during the worship service. However, we ask that you do so discreetly, trying not to let your child see you. We have mirrored windows for this purpose.

Pick-up Procedures
Please return promptly after service ends to pick up your child. Your child's leader will expect the same person to drop off and pick up each child unless special instructions are given at check-in. Please make sure that all your child's personal items have been returned to you before you leave the premises. Lost and found items will be retained for a short time. Items not claimed after one month are donated to Lean On Me.

Nursing Mother's Room
An Usher can direct nursing mothers to the isolated area designed to provide privacy during feeding times.

Lesson Time

The children will learn a Bible story and a memory verse that emphasizes the theme and focus of the lesson. We choose one main point and remain on that for a 5 week period. We realize the need for repetition in order for children to retain the Biblical Truths we are teaching. They will be encouraged to participate in a group discussion that will help them learn how to apply biblical truths to their lives. We also teach on giving and allow the children to practice applying this principle each week during offering time.

Worship Time

The children will participate in group worship time which includes singing praise and worship songs and a DVD teaching lesson.

The children may play a game or activity, enjoy a snack and engage in a craft which also revolve around the main point. The classes will also visit the playground, weather permitting, on a rotational basis.

Every minute spent in Adventure Bay will be filled with fun learning about God and his love for them. "Total Teaching Time"

Check-Out Process

Each child is sent home with a Take Home Challenge to reinforce the lesson. This also allows us to come along side you, the parent, in raising your kids in Christ. Please help your child fill out the challenge and bring it back the following week for a prize from our Treasure Chest.

To retrieve a child from our classrooms you will be required to provide the identification label that you were given when checking in the child. A child will not be released to an adult without presentation of his or her corresponding tag.
